BENNINGTON, VT Jesse M. Roy, 29, a resident of Bennington, died unexpectedly Sunday evening August 7, 2011 in Shaftsbury from injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident. Jesse was born in North Adams, on November 11, 1981 the son of Michael and Maryellen Berry Roy, attended local schools and graduated from Mt. Anthony Union High School. Jesse worked as a residential counselor at 206 Depot Street securing housing for young people.
Jesse was extremely active in local sports. He was on the wrestling team at Mt. Anthony Union High School. He loved playing basketball, baseball and volleyball. Jesse played for the Vermont Storm Football team, the Bennington Men's softball league, played volley ball and refereed volleyball at J.C.'s., and enjoyed shooting pool. He enjoyed riding motorcycles, loved spending time with his girlfriend Sierra Buck and his friends, spending time at the lake and cherished times spent with his family. Jesse loved animals especially cats and could always be found rescuing stray cats.
Jesse is survived by his Father Michael Roy of Bennington, his mother Maryellen Roy of Adams, Mass., his maternal grandmother Madeline Berry of Dalton, Mass., his paternal grandmother Pauline Roy of Bennington, his girlfriend Sierra Buck of Bennington his brother Ethan Roy of Bennington, his sisters Liana Roy and Holly Roy of Adams, Mass. and aunts, uncles, nieces and cousins.
FUNERAL NOTICE: Visiting hours for Jesse will be held Thursday August 11, 2011 at Hanson-Walbridge Funeral Home 213 West Main Street Bennington, Vermont, from 4 to 7pm when the family will be in attendance.
